3 reasons I'd recommend Klaviyo that a client *wouldn't* consider
Every brand faces the question of what email marketing platform/ESP to use. If you’re an e-commerce brand using Shopify, moving forward with Klaviyo is a no-brainer. The two platforms integrate seamlessly and share important information with one another - giving you a wealth of owned data on your customer/email subscriber base. But even if you’re not an e-commerce brand, Klaviyo is a really strong choice.
Here’s 3 reasons I'd recommend Klaviyo that a client wouldn't consider:
1. Bot click filtering
Most of your email clicks are actually from BOTS. Yes, robots. (Most of your subscribers from paid media are bots as well, but that’s a different blog post). These clicks are not real engagement from actual email subscribers. Klaviyo filters bot clicks out so your reporting is accurate, and you and your team get a true understanding of the content that is resonating with your audience.
2. Adjustable email revenue attribution
Every marketing platform is different, and often very generous in claiming attributed revenue. But the best platforms, like Klaviyo, let you adjust their attribution settings. For email marketing efforts in the e-commerce space, I’d recommend attributing revenue to any opens or clicks in the last 5 days. After 5 days, that email is lost in the shuffle and likely won’t be bringing in many conversions. At that point, it’s time to give a different channel the attribution. Recency matters!
3. Profile properties
This is by far the coolest tool in Klaviyo, in my opinion. Klaviyo allows you to collect additional email subscriber data in email sign up forms, and one-click surveys within emails. The data records to your email subscriber’s Klaviyo profile as a property that you can use in targeted segments, or to influence future content.
Is Klaviyo good for industries that are not D2C?
Yes, Klaviyo is a powerful tool even if you are not in e-commerce, or using Shopify. I’ve seen custom integrations with Klaviyo and non-profit websites, mobile apps, WiX websites, and more.
